 COVID Safety Protocol

BuDu Racing, llc will be implementing some of the following safety measures (list is not all inclusive) to maximize the safety for participants, spectators, volunteers and staff:

Prior to coming to packet pick up or to the event, we are asking the following of anyone at the event: Monitor your Covid symptoms and vulnerability; and out of an abundance of caution, ALL participants (and ALL spectators) should wear mask at all times when near other people, which means at ALL times when in the Transition Area, except while participating (please carry a mask with you for when you finish). If you have any symptoms or have been around anyone who does, please email Deanna@BuDuRacing.com and we will defer or refund (as appropriate-if you ordered a shirt, I can not change that at this time).

PLEASE mask for packet pick up and at any time before and after the event. This is not something that we will be debating with you. If you have a spectator with you, he/she will need to be masked during the event.

Packet Pick Up

  • We will be offering packet pick up in different ways, and we are asking that you make every effort to pick up your packet early.
    1. At BuDu Headquarters by appointment only (email Deanna@BuDuRacing.com to schedule)
    2. Thursday: 4:00pm to 6:00pm at Corpore Sano PT (parking lot)
    3. Friday: 5pm to 7:00pm at Allan Yorke Park (7265 W Tapps Hwy E Bonney Lake, WA 98391)
    4. Saturday: 6:30am to 7:40am at Allan Yorke Park
  • It is recommended that you pick up prior to Saturday morning to avoid standing in a line

Transition Area

  • You will be required to wear a mask at all times before and after the event, you can remove it prior to leaving transition for the start of the swim after the pre-race meeting (which will be in the transition area-different from years past). You will need a mask as you tear down your equipment after you finish
  • We are not staging the bib numbers by gender and age, as we have always done. This should make the transition from swim to bike less crowded. We are not requiring a mask during the event, but if you feel you want or need to, please do so.
  • We will have hand sanitizer at the entry points of the transition area

Swim

  • If needed, we would have the ability to have a time trial start, but it does just create people standing in line. We are planning to have the waves as normal at this time.
  • It is vitally important that as you exit the swim, and per USAT you must refrain from blowing 'snot rockets' out of your nose. Please use your towel.

Bike

  • You will be required to carry your own hydration and nutrition

Run

  • Bring your mask with you on the run to put on after you finish

Finish Line

  • It may be easier if you remove your timing chip yourself, but we will have people to help
  • Wear a mask after you finish

Post Race Food

  • In order to minimize contact, we are not providing our normal spread of delicious food at the end of the event, but we will have options for you to pick up

Awards

  • We will provide a podium and announce the winners, for those comfortable doing so. If do not want to do this, we can give you your award

Other

  • Hand sanitizer will be available around our race venue as a courtesy. Cleaning of common venue areas will be enhanced
  • Staff/Volunteers will be wearing a face covering as appropriate
  • Athletes should come with their own face coverings at packet pick-up and wear a face covering around our event venue. If someone does not have a mask we will make one available. We are adhering to the recommendations of the CDC, not wanting to debate this

 Registration has CLOSED

We are at capacity, so we will not be allowing onsite registration. Thank you for your understanding.

BuDu Racing, LLC Charity of Choice: JDRF!

JDRF BuDu Racing, LLC is proud to pledge a portion of the registration fees to support the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). The mission of JDRF is to find a cure for diabetes and its complications through the support of research. Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease that strikes children and adults suddenly, and can be fatal. Until a cure is found, people with type 1 diabetes have to test their blood sugar and give themselves insulin, every day of their lives. And even with that intensive care, insulin is not a cure for diabetes, nor does it prevent its eventual and devastating complications, which may include kidney failure, blindness, heart disease, stroke, and amputation.
